Math Department Home

The mission of the Wilmington Middle School STEAM Magnet Mathematics Department is to provide a program that allows all students to achieve and excel in math. Our goal is to maintain high standards and expectations while teaching the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). We will emphasize active learning, writing, talking math, using critical thinking skills in problem solving, and 21st century skills. We aim for our students to have fluency of mathematical skills to build a strong foundation, be challenged to use mathematics in real world scenarios, and be college and career ready.  We work to create an environment where students’ unique needs and learning styles are met and where their emotional and social development is just as important as their intellectual development and success.
